236. Most scholars think that two major sources are used in the Genesis creation accounts, commonly named the Priestly writer (1:1—2:4a) and the Yahwist (2:4b—3:24). At the same time, what we have explicitly available to our reading is only a combination of sources, which may be the Priestly writer’s work, using various resources, including the Yahwist, and inviting readers to read the text as a unit.
